Yorkshire Day is nearly here, and we’re marking it in true StavesArt style — surrounded by history, creativity, and community. On Friday 1 August, we’ll be celebrating at the Yorkshire Day Artisan Market at Knaresborough Castle, bringing our hand‑drawn city globes, stadium spirals, and Yorkshire‑inspired artwork to one of the county’s most iconic landmarks.
Yorkshire Day is all about honouring the culture, heritage, and identity of this incredible region. And where better to celebrate than Knaresborough Castle, a place that captures the spirit of Yorkshire with its dramatic views over the River Nidd, medieval ruins, and centuries of storytelling carved into its stone.
Knaresborough Castle has long been a symbol of Yorkshire’s resilience and character. Its clifftop position, sweeping landscapes, and rich history make it the perfect backdrop for an artisan market filled with local makers, independent traders, and creative businesses.
We’ll be there all day with a curated selection of:
-
Yorkshire‑themed artwork — including Leeds, York, Sheffield, Hull, and Harrogate pieces
-
City globes and spirals inspired by iconic UK landmarks
-
Stadium artwork celebrating Yorkshire’s sporting heritage
-
Fantasy pieces for something a little different
Whether you’re a proud Yorkshire local or visiting for the day, it’s a brilliant chance to explore the castle grounds, meet independent artists, and pick up something unique.
Yorkshire has always been at the heart of our story. Ben is Yorkshire born and bred and we run our small business from the heart of North Yorkshire. Many many of our most-loved pieces — from York Minster to Leeds’ skyline — are inspired by the places people call home. Yorkshire Day gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the region’s creativity, culture, and community spirit.
Our artwork is all about connection: connecting people to cities, memories, and the landmarks that shape their lives. And Yorkshire, with its mix of heritage, humour, and heart, is one of the richest places to draw inspiration from.
If you’re heading out to celebrate Yorkshire Day, come and find us at the artisan market. Tim will be manning the stall and, if you know him, you know how much he loves a chat. Wander the castle grounds, enjoy the views, meet local makers, and soak up the atmosphere of one of Yorkshire’s most historic sites.
We’d love to meet you, share the stories behind our artwork, and help you find the perfect piece to celebrate your favourite Yorkshire place.
