A Landmark Year for Two Nations
This 4th July is no ordinary Independence Day. It marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a moment that reshaped global history and forged the transatlantic relationship that continues to define the UK and the USA today. Across Britain, cities, heritage sites, and cultural institutions are commemorating this milestone with exhibitions, festivals, walking tours, and community celebrations.
For StavesArt — a brand built on storytelling through cities, landmarks, and cultural connections — this anniversary offers a rich opportunity to explore how places shape identity and how history binds communities across oceans.
London is hosting the largest cluster of America 250 events, blending history, culture, and Americana‑themed festivities.

The UK’s tribute extends across the Atlantic. The Red Arrows are touring the United States throughout the summer, performing at 13 major events across seven states. On 4 July, they will take part in a major international flypast over New York, celebrating the anniversary before returning to appear at UK events later in the season. You'll find the Red Arrows in many of our pictures, not least of all, our classic London Globe.
Royal Navy ships are also visiting New Orleans and New York as part of the commemorations, highlighting the enduring military partnership between the two nations.
